No, it wasn’t actually midnight but it was at night.

The night time picnic has become one of our family’s traditions starting about 10 years ago. The house we are renting has a very spacious backyard and a brick patio perfectly suited for BBQs and lounging around during the warmer months.

I cut the grass over the weekend and since it was a very balmy night last Sunday, we decided to roll out the carpet – literally! We have an old carpet/rug we bought many years ago from IKEA and it’s great for this situation.

I pulled out the camping table and chairs and Sam draped some colorful lights in the tree and voila! The midnight picnic is happening. Sam took this photo and shared it with her best friend who immediately asked her, “when are you inviting me over?!” It’s the Golden Week holiday in early May so her friend will come over and spend the night and participate in her first ever Midnight Picnic with us.
