In Japan, Golden Week is treated like a religious holiday. It’s actually a national holiday usually at some point in late April or early May. And as a national holiday, EVERYONE takes to the roads or to the skies for some much-needed relaxation and pleasure. Unfortunately, despite the name, it’s not always a solid week of vacation; sometimes it’s only 3-4 days and many times that “week” includes Saturday and Sunday! Not really fair IMO. Anyway, I just thought I’d say something about my GW plans.
Well, to be honest, I don’t really have any. I want to ride my bike as much as possible, but that’s not unusual. I have a few books I would like to read so maybe I can at least finish 1 of them. Unfortunately, the weather doesn’t look that great so we (my family) can’t really plan any BBQs but who knows? Maybe the weather will improve.
Nonetheless, I am looking forward to a few days off. Actually, if the weather is really bad I might come up to campus and do some work. Can’t ride in the rain, right? So, might as well work.
I’ll be sure to upload a post after the GW holiday to let you know how things went. In the meantime, the photo below is from GW holiday, April 2021. Yikes, 5 years ago. This is our typical backyard BBQ set-up.
